Secret Garden

This was such a fun painting for me. I loved that the house was being hidden by its beautifully flowering garden. Its beautiful flowers couldn’t help but make you smile as you walked by.

Blissful Poppies

Hotel Flora

This piece was created in Venice, Italy at a little hotel called Hotel Flora. It was the most beautiful little court yard tucked away in the midst of so many people. The whole place was enchanting and I felt the need to sit down and paint right away.

A Road Less Traveled

This painting was created near Sherwood, Oregon. The whole scene was perfect in my eyes. The blooming sunflowers were all looking in my direction. A sweet burst of summer color.

Tuscan Sunset

This sunset was captured in the heart of Tuscany in the countryside of Umbria. I painted this sunset on the beautiful grounds of Relais Alla Corte del Sole. The sunset was begging to be painted so I propped up my painting supplies on the small brick railing on the back steps and began to paint away. The whole image was captivating to me. There was a small little parish in the distance and a bright field of Italian sunflowers waiting to be painted.

Tulips

This watercolor is a fun painting that is an abstraction of a cluster of blooming red and yellow tulips. The technique used is unusual and creates a fun variety among each piece created. Watercolors can be used in a very free flowing form but can also be used very strictly. This painting combines them both together to create a harmonious picture of some of spring time's favorite flowers.

This drawing of the Ball Jars was inspired by the antique jars themselves. I find them to be very beautiful and a work of art all on there own. I did a personal study of glass pieces and this was the result of one of them. This piece was a still life created with Prismacolor pencils.

Country Garden Nursery

This piece was created with mix of Schmincke and Rembrandt pastels. I couldn't help but be inspired by this beautiful country setting at a local flower nursery specializing in hanging baskets. The flowers were all in full bloom covering this quaint little potting shed. This piece is a beautiful picture of what summers feel like when the flowers are in bloom.

Rainy Day

This image is what New York is in my head. I wanted to create a beautiful raining day in the city. I wanted to reflect the hustle and bustle that one would find on a rainy New York Day. I didnt want the piece to look as chaotic as this moment might actually be in real life so I made it very colorful. I knew when I began the piece that the sidewalks would be lined with people holding their brightly colored umbrellas and that the road would have nothing but racing taxis and splashes of water.

Daffodil Field

This was a moment captured in the spring when the field was in full bloom of the brightly colored daffodils. Barns are common among small farming towns and this barn in particular was set up so perfectly by the spring flowers all around. Landscapes can really take someone to that particular place and this watercolor painting takes me right spring.

The colors of Oregon are splendid and one could look back at the same scene and hour later and see something entirely different. Lake Como with Boat

This piece was created in Veranna , Italy on Lake Como . The towns surrounding the lake are so vibrant and completely different from the buildings in the States. I knew I had to draw this scene for it was not something that I would run across again anytime soon. I was so captivated by how the beautiful little town of Veranna came right up to the waters edge.

Working in the Field

I try to experiment with all different types of subject matter. I wanted this piece to be unlike any I had done before. I played around with the idea of having a man leaving the field after a hard days work. Soon the painting began to be primarily all about this elderly man looking back on his accomplishments of the day, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment for what he had done.

Mystery Man

This man was once not there. Not any eye could see him. An experimental technique turned out to be quite fascinating to me. I would roll pages upon pages of ink, and through the ink spots I would see different images come to life before my eyes. To allow others to see what I was seeing I would meticulously add on more ink a little at a time to generate a picture for all to see. This is precisely why this is the mystery man.

Happy Petunias

Who can resist smiling when they see a bed of petunias? I wanted this painting to be overflowing with petunias, just as they would out of a summer's patio pot. The deep violet of the petunias was so magnificent that I felt it needed to be captured.
